It's Been Awhile
Seven years have went by since I last posted here. Amazing how time flies. I am going to try and start using this blog spot for my morning devotionals that I share. A lot has gone on in the past seven years. I have spent actually the last seven years as the head basketball coach in Franklin, Tx. We had a great run there and accomplished a lot of program goals. Our program went 156-49 in seven seasons and made the post season seven straight years. We won three undefeated district titles and reached the regional quarterfinals 5 out of the 7 years. I have had the opportunity to coach some amazing kids. I was also able to coach in our little dribblers program and win two national championships with my oldest son. This past season I also got to coach my youngest son in Pee Wee Flag football and little dribblers. All memories I will cherish. This community was outstanding and very supportive of our Rycore mission. Our camps flourished and we were able to do several service projects along the way. Some of the proudest moments of my time there was meeting Becky and Joel at STCH and starting a partnership with their organization for the past four years. It was and still is a very humbling honor to be able to work with this group and their kids
Another proud moment was hosting a camp for the kids at Still Creek Ranch in Bryan. In time, I began to serve on their school board and have now been currently serving on their executive board for past two years. This place holds a special place in my heart and I am extremely proud to be associated with the people who are serving directly at the ranch impacting those kids. I created a flag football league four years ago and watched this program reach great heights. Seeing our high school athletes serve as mentors to our young kids was the most rewarding part of this program. Franklin was a special place for my family. Many friendships were fostered there and my kids both started school there. This past May, I decided to move on from my position as head basketball coach and pursue a career in administration. After a lot of sleepless nights, prayer, and discussion with my wife, we decided to move on. I don't understand the path sometimes, but we put our trust in the Lord and asked for His guidance. Change is hard, but sometimes necessary. We are leaving a lot of great people behind in a place that I spent half my career. I am excited to start my administrative career at one of the top school districts in the state. We have moved to Nazareth and will begin our journey there. Keva will be our new librarian and technology director. She is very excited for the opportunity. I am excited to be associated with a caring community with strong values and expectations. I am thankful everyday for the opportunities that God has provided for my family and myself. I hope to continue to impact youth in administration like I have in coaching for the past 18 years. God Bless!
