July 12 - Fear God

"We have been rescued from our enemies so we can serve God without fear, in holiness and righteousness for as long as we live." Luke 1:74-75 We are in daily battles with 3 enemies: 1. The World 2. The Flesh 3. The Devil (Ephesians 2:1-3) All three are formidable, but in an eternal sense, you have already been rescued from all of them. While we walk the earth though, battles with all three will continue. These can weigh you down, set you on the wrong track, and disable you with fear. In Luke, he mentions Zechariah's prophecy about the coming messiah who descended from the royal line of David, just as God promised (Luke 1:69-70) While Zechariah looked forward to the coming Messiah, we look backward, knowing He has already arrived. Our salvation has been secured. But for now, we must live out our salvation. We can't fear persecution or even death for Christ's sake. We must instead, fear God. Serve Him faithfully in the spheres of influence where He has placed you, being confident that His work will continue, no matter what His enemies do. The enemy will prevail in battles. It will probably seem like a higher percentage than you think. Evil is everywhere. But we must remember the war has already been won.

It's Been Awhile

Seven years have went by since I last posted here. Amazing how time flies. I am going to try and start using this blog spot for my morning devotionals that I share. A lot has gone on in the past seven years. I have spent actually the last seven years as the head basketball coach in Franklin, Tx. We had a great run there and accomplished a lot of program goals. Our program went 156-49 in seven seasons and made the post season seven straight years. We won three undefeated district titles and reached the regional quarterfinals 5 out of the 7 years. I have had the opportunity to coach some amazing kids. I was also able to coach in our little dribblers program and win two national championships with my oldest son. This past season I also got to coach my youngest son in Pee Wee Flag football and little dribblers. All memories I will cherish. This community was outstanding and very supportive of our Rycore mission. Our camps flourished and we were able to do several service projects along the way. Some of the proudest moments of my time there was meeting Becky and Joel at STCH and starting a partnership with their organization for the past four years. It was and still is a very humbling honor to be able to work with this group and their kids Another proud moment was hosting a camp for the kids at Still Creek Ranch in Bryan. In time, I began to serve on their school board and have now been currently serving on their executive board for past two years. This place holds a special place in my heart and I am extremely proud to be associated with the people who are serving directly at the ranch impacting those kids. I created a flag football league four years ago and watched this program reach great heights. Seeing our high school athletes serve as mentors to our young kids was the most rewarding part of this program. Franklin was a special place for my family. Many friendships were fostered there and my kids both started school there. This past May, I decided to move on from my position as head basketball coach and pursue a career in administration. After a lot of sleepless nights, prayer, and discussion with my wife, we decided to move on. I don't understand the path sometimes, but we put our trust in the Lord and asked for His guidance. Change is hard, but sometimes necessary. We are leaving a lot of great people behind in a place that I spent half my career. I am excited to start my administrative career at one of the top school districts in the state. We have moved to Nazareth and will begin our journey there. Keva will be our new librarian and technology director. She is very excited for the opportunity. I am excited to be associated with a caring community with strong values and expectations. I am thankful everyday for the opportunities that God has provided for my family and myself. I hope to continue to impact youth in administration like I have in coaching for the past 18 years. God Bless!

It has been awhile

Man it has been awhile since i posted on this blog. The move and new job while juggling the little ones has taken up most of my free time. Basketball season has been good. My team is currently 19-7 and 10-2 in district. We clinched a playoff spot and now have our sights set on a district championship.

Last Few Days

The last few days have been a little hard. The athletic banquet was a tough one, but I enjoyed visiting with the parents and seeing the kids get their awards. I'm excited about what lies ahead, but sad about leaving this place behind. Had some great kids and great support here.

Tough Day

This may be the toughest day of my coaching career. I have decided to move on and accept a head basketball position at Franklin ISD near College Station. It was a move that had to be made based on our current family situation. Franklin offered both my wife and I good teaching jobs. I am excited about the upcoming opportunity, but I am disappointed that I have to leave Whitesboro, a community that has embraced my family and made us feel like it was home. The hardest thing to leave behind is the hard working and dedicated basketball guys that I've had for the past four years. I hope I encounter the same situation where I am headed. I want to thank the community of Whitesboro for the past four years.
